      What is Electronic Muscle Stimulation?

      How Electronic Muscle Stimulation works:
Electronic Muscle Stimulation (EMS) is an internationally accepted and proven way of treating muscle injuries. It works by sending electronic pulses to the muscle needing treatment; this causes the muscle to exercise passively. Electronic Muscle Stimulators Stimulate, Re-educate, Massage, and Build Muscle. Muscle stimulation is achieved by using an Electro Stimulation Machine to send low frequency electric pulses through muscle tissue causing them to gently contract. In this way the muscles are passively exercised and blood flow is increased. Carbon based Electrode pads are placed on or around the muscle or muscle group to be stimulated. Then a frequency, intensity and duration is chosen based on the specific result desired.

Electronic Muscle Stimulators (EMS) are used for both medical treatment and cosmetic purposes (conditioning and toning). Medical conditions treated by Muscle Stimulation include: Muscle Spasms, Long-term Disuse after Fracture or Prolonged Bed Rest, Strengthening for Joint or Muscle Injury, Immobilized Limbs, Atrophy Prevention, Bell's Palsy, Stress Incontinence, Muscle Weakness, Improving Muscle Tone, Muscle Spasticity following a Stroke, and Personal Fitness Training.

What is the difference between TENS and Muscle Stimulation?

What is does Single, Dual or Quad Channel mean?

Generally, the electronic muscle stimulator signal is between two electrodes or on a single channel. Therefore, the user can apply electrode stimulation to one site per channel. A dual channel device allows for stimulation in two locations using 4 electrodes and a quad channel device can use up to 8 electrodes. It is not necessary to use all of the channels available on a device, but each channel requires a pair of electrodes.

What are Electro Muscle Stimulator (EMS) Modes?

The modes of the device refer to preset stimulation effects with changes to pulse rate, pulse width, modulation, frequency and sometimes amplitude. These modes are sometimes programs that start off at a certain rate and then proceed to other modes of stimulation. The purpose of these modes are to help the user quickly and effectively apply a therapy that is suitable for an individual treatment. Stimulation can be very specific to an area of the body and to the intention of the therapy.

Why use Silver Electrodes instead of Carbon Electrodes?

Silver Electrodes refer to carbon electrodes that include a thin layer of silver between the pad and the backing where the actual wire connection is made. This silver forms a better connection between the wire lead and the electrode, and distributes the electricity more uniformly across the pad. Silver Electrodes are slightly more expensive to produce, but they are substantially more effective at delivering the electrode stimulation treatment to the effected site. Whether you are using a TENS unit, Muscle Stimulator, Interferential unit or a Galvanic unit, you will get a lot more out of it using a silver coated electrode.

      Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS)

TENS is a non-invasive, drug free method of controlling pain, which uses tiny electrical impulses sent through the skin to nerves in order to modify your pain perception. In most people it is effective in reducing or eliminating the pain.

      Electronic Muscle Stimulation (EMS)

EMS works by sending electronic pulses to the muscle(s). This is achieved by sending low frequency electric pulses through muscle tissue causing them to gently contract. In this way the muscles are passively exercised and blood flow is increased

      Galvanic Stimulators

Galvanic Stimulators use direct current, which creates an electrical field over the treated area. The positive pad works like ice, causing reduced circulation to the area under the pad. The negative pad works like heat, causing increased circulation.

      Interferential

IF sends small comfortable electrical impulses through your skin to work on deeper tissue stimulation. The sensation works to prevent pain signals from reaching the brain.

      Infrared

Infrared Light Therapy help the body by delivering specific light waveforms that increase circulation. Increasing circulation helps promote healing, lessen swelling, and helps in reducing pain.

      Ultrasound

Portable Ultrasounds give advanced pain relief using sonic stimulation of soft tissue cells. They generate pulsed, high frequency sound waves, which travel deep into the tissue, generating vasodilation. This helps increase blood flow to the treated area.

      Russian

Russian stimulation uses medium frequencies to provide stimulation to muscle groups. This is used to reduce muscle spasms as well as for muscle strengthening. This method was created to produce maximal muscle strengthening effects.

      Micro Current

Microcurrent Therapy uses extremely small amounts of electrical current (millionths of an amp) to help relieve pain and heal soft tissues of the body. The electrical current used in Microcurrent Therapy is so small that it is rarely felt.
