Directions:

  1. Remove cap from the lancet.
  2. Place open end of lancet against the finger from which the blood sample is to be obtained.
  3. To stick your finger, quickly apply firm pressure to compress the lancet device.
  4. Dispose of the lancet in an approved sharps container.

The larger the gauge size, the smaller the outside diameter, and therefore, the smaller the hole put in you. For example, 30 Gauge is smaller then 28 Gauge, and both are smaller then 23 Gauge. You and your physician or diabetes educator must be the judge of your comfort level and needs.
